Colleges With Application Deadlines After January 15, 2027
4 min read·Oct 3, 2026
If you missed a January deadline, changed your mind about a school, or want one more realistic option on your list, you still have choices. 88 colleges in our catalog list a Regular Decision deadline after January 15, 2027. Twenty-nine of them close on February 1, including the University of Michigan, Baylor, Auburn and Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
A later deadline is not a softer admission standard, and it is not a sign of a weaker school. Some large universities simply read on a longer calendar. What changes when you apply late is everything around the decision: merit scholarship rounds, honors programs and first-choice housing often close earlier than the application itself. Check those dates on each college's site.
All dates are the Regular Decision deadlines each college lists on the Common App for 2026-27 (updated September 25, 2026).

Adding a school late: what to check
Where your score sits in its admitted range. Every college on this list publishes the SAT and ACT range of the students it admits. A school where you are near the top of the range does a different job on your list than one where you are below it.
What it costs at your income. The published net price by family income often differs from the sticker price by tens of thousands of dollars.
Whether it changes the risk of the whole list. One late addition with a high admit rate can lower the chance that every school says no by more than two more reaches can.
Our free list check shows all three for the schools you enter.
